FEM analysis of vehicle-bridge vibration considering bridge deck's vibration

Abstract

This paper is to analyze the vehicle-bridge interaction system based on finite element method (FEM). The vehicle is studied as FEM model as well as the bridge: the bridge structure modeled by shell element considering the bridge deck's vibration, and the vehicle is also modeled by FEM. The coupling effect is implemented by displacement coordination condition and Newmark-β method is used to solve the dynamic equations. Numerical example shows validity of the FEM model of the bridge and vehicle, and the effects of the bridge deck and three-dimensional vehicle model on vehicle-caused vibration of bridge is discussed.
